Today is International Smile day

As I once blogged once before, sending love across the ocean in (surprise)boxes is a thing in our family. My mom asked me yesterday what I wanted from home, she had found this special deal for Valentine's to send stuff cheap.

I was having coffee break when I read the mail and my colleagues had to smile, the way I was beaming at my Blackberry. Jeeee, even if my mom just sends a handwritten note in her secret code, illegible handwriting, with her signature smiley with a helicopter hair bow at the end, and threw in a handful of confetti for good measure, it was always great to get a box.
The whole day I was remembering a box was coming and had to smile. I asked my sister yesterday: are you the surprise box? She send back: huh? box? Are they sending a box? I want in on that!

Little did I know, that behind the (come to think of it suspiciously so) few pings I got from my husband today, a conspiracy was brewing.
A plane had landed in Dusseldorf, a train was taken to Utrecht and a package was picked up by Joris, all the while with me completely unaware. At home, I finished tyding the basement, and started thinking about what to cook for dinner. When it goes dark I always lock the doors, so when I heard a key turn I looked up and looked back to tell the cats: Daddy is home! While I was saying that, my ears could not believe my eyes. In my kitchen, my own kitchen stood my sister. Lisa had flown over to surprise me and Carol. This is the best Smile Day EVER!
